What’s Your Greatest Culinary Compliment?

What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said about your cooking?   Your greatest culinary compliment? Oh come on…I know you’ve gotten one!

What have you baked, braised or roasted that caused someone to bubble over with praise, compliments and promises of indentured servitude for the rest of their life if you make it again???

What is it for you in your repretoire that leaves your friends and family at the table begging for more?

What did you make and what did they say?

The most unusal thing anyone has ever said about my skills was when my oldest son was a sophomore in high school.  I baked alot of cookies and sandwiches for the boys on his baseball team.  An awesome grilled salami sandwich…I’ll post that again soon..but I digress.. the most unusal praise I ever got came from a baseball teammate…his name was Alex….he loved my signature chocolate chip cookies, he said “These cookies are so good, it tastes like an angel spit in the batter!”   Funny huh.

Whatever it is for you..make that tonight! xo

Here’s my  signature Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe…..sans the angel spit 🙂

1 cup melted butter

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg yolk + 1 whole egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 1/4 cups Better for Bread Flour

2 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Mix as it says on the Nestle’s Toll House Morsel package but place the batter in the refriderator for at least an hour before baking.   xo

One Christmas I decided on an Italian-themed dinner. An Italian friend of mine walked into the house and said, “It smells just like my mom’s house!”. Considering I’m not Italian, I took it as quite a complement.
