Buttermilk in a Flash

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought a container of buttermilk for a recipe, used half , and then poured the other half down the drain because I didn’t need it again before that almighty expiration date.  No More!  I make my own buttermilk now whenever  a recipe calls for it.


1 scant cup milk

1 tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar


Stir the milk and lemon juice or vinegar together.  Allow to stand for 15 minutes and then use in your recipe.  Easy!
