Sugared Cranberries

This is my new favorite holiday treat!  So easy and so beautiful in a silver dish or atop a creamy white cupcake.

Homemade Cranberry Candy

  • 2  cup  water
  • 2  cup  fresh cranberries
  • 2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup   regular sugar or superfine sugar or turbinado sugar
Rinse fresh cranberries in a colander and set aside.  Combine water and sugar in medium sized pot and heat over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.  Place drained cranberries in a medium mixing bowl and pour slightly cooled simple syrup over them stirring to cover all if needed.   Place in refrigerator for a minimum of 4 hours or over night.
Drain cranberries and save infused simple syrup for another use (like a cranberry moijito).   Pour the other cup of sugar in a rimmed cookie sheet lined with parchment paper if desired then roll cranberries in it.  Let them  dry and enjoy!
