A Meal for Mary Lou

A dear lady in our neighborhood lost her husband last week to cancer.     So a warm hug , a listening ear and a comforting meal are all on the menu.

When bringing a meal to a family I consider if there are children, elderly  people and plan the meal accordingly.  If possible I will ask if there are any allergies or food aversions.  In this particular case I was providing a meal after a long day of travel and a late evening arrival at home so I provided two kinds of soup,  Manhattan Clam Chowder and Red Lentil Soup, Honey Baked Ham, Cheese and Fresh Bread as well as a Salad  some Clementines and some Jam Thumbprint cookies.

I highly recommend keeping a supply of large mason jars in your pantry for gifting soup.  I even send soup to work with my husband in the smaller jars.  So many uses for these lovelies!

What do you make when you deliver a meal?
