There are so many great halloween food ideas out there in the blogosphere and in the numerous periodicals I subscribe too. But, this one is easy and delicous! Mummy Dogs! My son Scout loved them. He loves a good hot dog crescent but, I don’t make them that much. I’m just not crazy about feeding him too many hot dogs, go figure. But, last night I made them and he was in mummy hot dog heaven, eating his mummy dogs.
Good quality hot dogs like Nathan’s or Hebrew National’s
Roll of hot dog Crescents
Handful of whole cloves
Open the container of crescents seperate one crescent and slice an aproximately 1/4 inch strip of cresent roll from end to end. Wrap it around the hot dog, add another strip if needed to get to the end. Next, cut a piece from the smaller end of the crescent for the head wrap. Insert a clove for each eye. Repeat until you have made all you need or run out of ingredients, whichever comes first.
Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes. (Keep an eye on them because oven temperatures vary.)
Arrange on a platter with dipping sauces and serve. Make sure to remind your family to remove the mummies eyes before eating. Happy Halloween!
